About the Molo Church and some history.

Nestled in Molo District, Iloilo City, Molo Church is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. 

With its captivating architecture, intriguing history, and stunning surroundings, this Spanish-colonial church has become a beloved landmark and top tourist attraction.

Molo Church boasts striking red spires crowning its bell towers, earning it the nickname "the feminist church" for its 16 statues of female saints on aisle pillars. 

Built in neogothic style, the church's coral stone facade reflects the golden rays of the sunset, making it a photographer's paradise.

Molo district is my hometown. The church is still beautiful as I can recall.

Getting to Molo Church is easy, as it is located beside Molo Plaza in the heart of Molo District. Taxi or jeepney rides with "Molo" or "Arevalo" in their names provide convenient access.

Step inside Molo Church and experience Gothic-Renaissance splendor. The only Gothic-Renaissance church outside of Manila, its white coral stone facade showcases distinct architectural elements. 

The bell towers house 30 bells of different sizes, and the interior features pointed arches, a Renaissance dome, and 16 statues of female saints.

Molo Church, also known as St. Anne Parish Church, holds deep religious and cultural significance.

The altar features the image of St. Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, along with statues of the Blessed Virgin and the Holy Trinity. Two archangels, Michael and Raphael, guard the main portal.

The church's history dates back to 1863 when it was originally built. In 1869, it underwent a transformation into the Gothic-Renaissance structure seen today. 

Molo Church's resilience was evident during the Second World War, serving as an evacuation center.

Recognizing its historical value, the National Historical Institute declared it a national landmark in 1992.
